Introduction
I never took many pictures of the World Trade Center, even though I lived in its shadow for many years. So many other people had already documented it that I felt that most pictures I would take would be trite - things people had already seen many times before.
A few days before 9/11/01, I walked through the sunny plaza between the towers, dreamily watching the geometry and mentally framing pictures I would like to take - some that were my own vision, my own personal interaction with the space. I didn't hurry to take them, though - I thought I had all the time in the world.
